SUMMARY:Spread Love and Hope at Our Fundraiser! Show Alex some Love and Hope!
DESCRIPTION:As many of you know\, Alex suffered an anoxic brain injury on May 5th\, 2022; as a result of the brain injury\, Alex developed an incurable disorder known as dystonia. After a lengthy stay at Credit Valley Hospital\, Alex was admitted to Hamilton brain injury rehab\, where he stayed for 5 months\, but due to his severe dystonia\, he was deemed incapable of progressing. \nAlex finally came home on April 29th\, 2023\, where he has been recovering. He started attending a private acquired brain injury clinic for physiotherapy in hopes of getting him back on his feet. Unfortunately due to the debilitating spasm once again\, Alex was unable to progress any further. \nOn May 17\, 2024\, by the grace of God and thanks to the medical staff at Toronto Western\, Alex underwent deep brain stimulation in hopes that it would help to control his spasms. Although it is a procedure that is usually treated for genetic\, not acquired\, dystonia\, the neurosurgeons are hopeful that he may still benefit from it. With this new procedure\, it will be a slow process to find the right frequency that will hopefully eventually give Alex some relief. \nAlex is a 28-year-old strong man who has always been very active. He has his whole life ahead of him. The doctors and neurosurgeon have informed his mother that they see no reason that Alex cannot get back on his feet with the right professional help. \nOur goal here is to try and raise enough money to either get Alex back into a rehabilitation centre or even physiotherapy 3-4 times a week. His mom\, Donya\, is staying with him full time around the clock and also taking care of his 9-year-old sister\, and Kenny\, his stepdad\, is the sole provider for the household. \nThank you for all your support. Now\, let’s try to get Alex back on his feet.
